Niki Sangra at I.F. Cox School

This past November, TREX Southeast invited Grand Prairie artist Niki Sangra to conduct a hands on creative workshop with the grade 2 students at I.F. Cox School in Redcliff, AB.  The workshop theme was based on Niki’s work in the exhibition Stargazer; drawings and embroideries based on constellations (which is currently on display at the school). With the approach altered to be age appropriate, students began by creating a night sky using soft pastels on black construction paper. Then, using Ursa Major (the Bear) as the main form in their composition, students used star sequence and glitter glue to complete their masterpiece. Every grade two student was engaged, focused and had a super time! Great job grade 2’s!!
