Niki Sangra at Margaret Wooding School
This past November, TREX Southeast invited Grand Prairie artist Niki Sangra to conduct a hands on creative workshop with the grade 4 & 5 students at Margaret Wooding School in Redcliff, AB. The workshop theme was based on Niki’s work in the exhibition Stargazer; drawings and embroideries based on constellations (which was on display at the school). The workshop began with Niki speaking about her work and describing her creative process. Then, each student choose which constellation they would like to work with, and created a graphite drawing of the animal the constellation represents. The final steps utilized blending chalk pastels on black construction paper, gluing their drawing to the background, and adding sequins stars and glitter glue to highlight the constellation. Every student was immersed in their project and created amazing pieces! Awesome job Margaret Wooding!
